Chapter Philanthropy
As individuals with time, talents, and treasures, Kappa first supports our sisters; second, we participate in local service projects; and third, we serve the greater good.
Reading Is Fundamental (RIF), our official philanthropic partner, is supported through the donation of thousands of books and volunteer hours to the Boys and Girls Clubs, elementary schools, and hospitals. Our chapter women support elementary schools, Relay for Life, Big Brothers/Big Sisters and Habitat for Humanity just to name a few. Chapter fundraising events support causes such as the American Cancer Society, breast cancer/Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure, tsunami relief, and multiple sclerosis research. Our chapter also helps the Rose McGill magazine subscription sales to help fund scholarships, confidential aid, education and training, and support of our two museums.
The Zeta Pi Chapter at The College of Idaho hosts an annual casino night called Kappa Casino which is Zeta Pi's signature event on campus. This sponsors the national Kappa Kappa Gamma philanthropy, Reading is Fundamental (RIF). In addition to dealing out cards for the night, Zeta Pi hosts a raffle with over $3000 in donated prizes to raise funds to purchase books for the third grade classrooms of Van Buren and Lincoln Elementary.
The Zeta Pi Chapter also hosts an event around Christmastime that benefits the Salvation Army. The Kappa Giving Tree is where attendees are encouraged to fulfill a Christmas wish for children in need.
